This breaker is built with an I-Line plug-on connection and is exclusively compatible with Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards. It will not fit in standard NF, NQ, or QO load centers.
How does the FC34080 differ from the FA34080 or FH34080?
The "FC" prefix indicates an extra-high interrupting capacity within the legacy F-frame series. While standard FA and FH frames offer lower AIC ratings, the FC34080 is rated for up to 65kAIC at 480VAC and 100kAIC at 240VAC.
Is the FC34080 still actively manufactured?
The Square D legacy F-frame series has been discontinued and replaced by the PowerPact H-frame series. For a modern equivalent that fits the same I-Line panelboards, an H-frame breaker such as the HJA36080 is the direct replacement.
Do I need to purchase lugs for both the line and load sides of this breaker?
No. Because this is an I-Line breaker, the line side features a factory-installed plug-on jaw that grips the panelboard busbar. Standard wire lugs, such as the AL100FA, are only required on the load side.
What is the recommended tightening torque for the load lugs on the FC34080?
The standard AL100FA load lugs used on this 80-amp breaker are typically torqued to 50 lb-in (5.6 N.m) for 14 to 1/0 AWG copper or aluminum conductors. Always verify the exact torque requirement printed on the physical breaker label before terminating.
Is the FC34080 circuit breaker HACR rated?
Yes, this thermal-magnetic breaker carries an HACR rating, making it approved for protecting heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment motor loads.
Can I reverse-feed the FC34080 breaker?
No. I-Line breakers feature a specialized plug-on jaw designed specifically for line-side busbar connections and cannot be reverse-fed. Applications requiring reverse feeding must use a unit-mount circuit breaker with lugs on both ends.

Expedited Shipments
