6 answersWhat type of panelboards accept the FCL34045 breaker?
This is a unit mount, or feed-thru, circuit breaker designed to bolt directly to a mounting surface in Square D enclosures, switchboards, and motor control centers. It is not compatible with I-Line panelboards, which require a plug-on jaw connection.
What does the current limiting feature of the FCL34045 do?
Current limiting breakers are designed to clear a fault in less than half a cycle. This rapid trip reduces the peak let-through current and energy, providing enhanced protection for downstream electrical components during severe short circuits.
How does the FCL34045 differ from FAL34045 or FHL34045 breakers?
While all three are 45A, 3-pole F-frame breakers, they have different interrupting capacities. The FAL is the standard rating, the FHL is the high rating, and the FCL is the extra-high, current limiting version rated at 65kAIC at 480V AC.
What is the modern replacement for the legacy FCL34045?
Square D has officially superseded the legacy F-frame series with the PowerPact H-frame. The direct modern equivalent for this breaker is the HJL36045.
Does the interrupting rating change if installed on a 240V AC system?
Yes. While rated for a maximum of 480V AC with a 65kAIC rating, applying this breaker on a 240V AC system increases its interrupting capacity to 100kAIC.
What type of trip unit is installed in the FCL34045?
It features a non-interchangeable thermal magnetic trip unit with fixed long-time and fixed instantaneous (LI) trip functions. It does not offer adjustable trip settings.

Free Shipping Policy
Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.
Same Day Shipping
We strive to ship out your items the same day the order is placed. In rare circumstances SuperBreakers may reserve up to 5 business days to consolidate orders for complete shipment.
Expedited Shipments
Orders being shipped via Next Day Air, 2 Day Shipping or 3 Day Shipping must be received by 3 PM EST to guarantee same-day shipments. Expedited orders only ship on normal business days. Shipments will NOT be sent out on Saturdays and Sundays.
