The third letter of the catalog number designates the interrupting capacity. The HJL36040 features a J rating, providing up to 100kA at 240V and 65kA at 480V. The HGL36040 uses a G rating, which is a lower tier rated for 65kA at 240V and 35kA at 480V.
Can I install the HJL36040 in a Square D I-Line panelboard?
No. The HJL36040 features a unit mount, feed-thru design with line and load lugs intended for industrial control panels, motor control centers, and standard enclosures. For an I-Line panelboard, you need a plug-on variant such as the HJA36040.
Is the HJL36040 suitable for reverse-fed applications?
Yes. Thermal-magnetic PowerPacT H-Frame circuit breakers like the HJL36040 do not have line and load side restrictions and are suitable for reverse-fed or back-fed installations. Always ensure proper labeling per NEC requirements when back-feeding a main breaker.
What does the LI trip function on this breaker provide?
The LI code indicates a thermal-magnetic trip unit with Long-Time (L) and Instantaneous (I) protection. The Long-Time element protects against sustained overloads, while the Instantaneous element reacts to high-level short circuits. Free Shipping Policy
Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.
Same Day Shipping
We strive to ship out your items the same day the order is placed. In rare circumstances SuperBreakers may reserve up to 5 business days to consolidate orders for complete shipment.
Expedited Shipments
Orders being shipped via Next Day Air, 2 Day Shipping or 3 Day Shipping must be received by 3 PM EST to guarantee same-day shipments. Expedited orders only ship on normal business days. Shipments will NOT be sent out on Saturdays and Sundays.
