Square D HLA36030 Molded Case Circuit Breaker

This breaker is designed exclusively for Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards. It features a plug-on line side connection specific to the I-Line bus system and cannot be used in standard load centers.

The L designates the interrupting rating level within the Square D PowerPacT H-frame family. It indicates a very high interrupting capacity, specifically 125kA at 240VAC and 100kA at 480VAC.

Yes. The HLA36030 shares the exact same physical dimensions and I-Line mounting as the HDA, HGA, and HJA breakers. Because the HLA has a higher interrupting rating, it is a safe and code-compliant upgrade or replacement for those lower-rated models.

Yes. The PowerPacT H-frame series is the direct, modern replacement for the obsolete Square D F-frame I-Line breakers. The HLA36030 will fit into the same I-Line panelboard space as a 30A FAL breaker while offering a higher interrupting rating.

The factory-installed lugs accept either copper or aluminum conductors ranging from 14 AWG to 3/0 AWG. Ensure proper torque specifications are followed during installation as listed on the breaker faceplate.

The breaker uses a non-adjustable thermal element for long-time overload protection and a fixed magnetic element for instantaneous short-circuit protection. Neither the continuous current nor the instantaneous trip point can be adjusted in the field.

No additional mounting brackets are required. The breaker features a built-in I-Line plug-on connection for the line side and mounts directly to the panelboard bus. The load side uses standard mechanical lugs.

The LI designation indicates the breaker provides Long-Time (L) and Instantaneous (I) trip functions. The long-time function protects against sustained overloads, while the instantaneous function provides immediate tripping during a short circuit.
