Yes. Schneider Electric has verified that PowerPacT P-Frame I-Line breakers, including the PGA36120, are backward compatible with existing and legacy I-Line panelboards and switchboard distribution sections. Installers must always verify that the equipment's voltage and interrupting capacity ratings meet or exceed the application requirements before installation.
Can the trip unit on the PGA36120 be swapped with a different MicroLogic module?
No. The PGA36120 is equipped with a basic ET 1.0I electronic trip unit which provides fixed long-time and instantaneous (LI) protection. Unlike P-Frame breakers equipped with standard MicroLogic trip units, the ET 1.0I is not field-interchangeable.
Does the PGA36120 require field-installed lugs on both the line and load sides?
No. Because this is an I-Line style plug-in breaker, the line side mounts directly to the panelboard's I-Line bus stack. Factory-installed mechanical lugs are only provided on the load side.
How many load-side conductors can the standard lugs on this breaker accommodate per phase?
The factory-installed mechanical load lugs (AL1200P25K) accept up to four aluminum or copper conductors per phase. They support wire sizes from 3/0 AWG up to 500 kcmil.
Can the PGA36120 I-Line breaker be reverse fed?
No. I-Line circuit breakers feature plug-on jaw construction designed strictly for the line-side connection to the panelboard bus. They cannot be reverse fed.
Which part of the PGA36120 catalog number indicates it is an I-Line breaker?
The "A" following the "PG" interruption rating designates the termination type as an I-Line plug-on connection. PowerPacT P-Frame breakers with an "L" or "F" in this position feature different termination styles, such as lugs on both ends or no lugs.
Does the standard PGA36120 include ground-fault protection?
No. The standard ET 1.0I trip unit in this breaker provides long-time and instantaneous (LI) protection only. Applications requiring equipment ground-fault protection (LSIG) will require a different P-Frame configuration equipped with an advanced MicroLogic trip unit.
Is the PGA36120 rated for 100 percent continuous duty?
No. Standard PowerPacT PGA circuit breakers without a specific "C" suffix are 80 percent rated. This means the continuous load must not exceed 960 amps (80 percent of its 1200A capacity) for periods of three hours or more.

Expedited Shipments
