What is the difference between the PGL36120U44A and the PGA36120U44A?
The mounting style is the key difference. The PGL suffix indicates a unit-mount configuration with feed-thru lugs on both ends. The PGA suffix designates an I-Line plug-on configuration designed specifically for Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards.
What wire sizes are accepted by the factory lugs on this 1200A breaker?
The standard factory feed-thru lugs accept four 3/0 AWG to 500 kcmil aluminum or copper conductors per phase. Always follow the manufacturer torque specifications printed on the breaker label during installation.

Yes. The Micrologic trip unit utilizes interchangeable rating plugs. By installing a lower-value rating plug, a licensed electrician can reduce the maximum long-time pickup setting without having to replace the entire circuit breaker frame.
