This PowerPacT Q-Frame breaker is designed exclusively for use in Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards. It features an I-Line style plug-in connection on the line side and mechanical lugs on the load side.
Can I install this PowerPacT Q-Frame breaker in older legacy I-Line panelboards?
Yes. Schneider Electric has confirmed that newer PowerPacT Q-Frame I-Line circuit breakers are backward compatible with older, previously installed Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards, provided the voltage and interrupting ratings meet your system requirements.
Does the QBA221254 replace any older Square D circuit breakers?
Yes. The PowerPacT Q-Frame series serves as the direct replacement for legacy Square D Q2 Series circuit breakers.
What type of load-side terminals are included on this breaker?
The QBA221254 features mechanical box-type lugs on the load side that accept 4 AWG to 300 kcmil aluminum or copper conductors. While 250A Q-Frame models are restricted to copper wire only, this 125A version safely accepts both aluminum and copper.
What phase connection is the QBA221254 configured for?
This specific catalog number is factory-configured for a B-C phase connection on the I-Line bus. When installing in an I-Line panelboard, it will draw power from the B and C phases.
What is the interrupting capacity (AIC) of the QBA221254?
This breaker has a standard interrupting rating of 10 kAIC at 240VAC. If your application requires a higher fault current rating, you will need to step up to the QD (25 kAIC), QG (65 kAIC), or QJ (100 kAIC) tier within the PowerPacT Q-Frame family.

No. This breaker features a thermal-magnetic trip unit with fixed long-time (thermal) and fixed instantaneous (magnetic) trip functions. The magnetic trip is factory set between 1200A and 2400A.

No. This is a standard-rated breaker, meaning it is rated for 80 percent continuous current.
Does this breaker include a push-to-trip feature?
Yes. Like all PowerPacT molded case circuit breakers, it includes an integral push-to-trip button on the cover. This allows you to manually trip the breaker to verify the mechanical operation of the tripping mechanism.
