This model mounts into GE A-Series panelboards, including AL and AQ types, plus PowerMark Gold enclosures. It serves as a substitute for the THQL290 and is replaced by the THQL2190A version. Carrying a 10kAIC rating and HACR certification, the breaker safely manages fault conditions.

Product FAQs

What is the difference between GE THQL and THQP circuit breakers?

THQL breakers are standard 1-inch wide per pole plug-in breakers that fit any standard Q-Line slot. THQP breakers are 1/2-inch wide slim or tandem breakers that only fit in specific panel slots designed to accept them. The THQL2190 is a THQL frame and requires two full 1-inch spaces.

What is the lug tightening torque for the THQL2190 circuit breaker?

The required torque depends on the wire gauge used. For 6 AWG to 4 AWG wire, torque the box lugs to 45 in-lb. For 3 AWG to 1/0 AWG wire, torque the lugs to 50 in-lb.

Is the THQL2190 breaker HACR rated for HVAC equipment?

Yes, this breaker is HACR rated. It is suitable for use with heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment that requires a Minimum Circuit Ampacity (MCA) and Maximum Overcurrent Protection (MOP) within its 90-amp rating.

Can the THQL2190 be used as a back-fed main breaker?

Yes, it can be used as a back-fed main breaker in compatible GE PowerMark Gold or ABB ReliaHome load centers. However, the National Electrical Code (NEC) requires it to be secured with a hold-down retainer kit. You will need the correct retainer kit, such as THQLRK1, THQLRK2, or THQLRK3, depending on your specific panel size.

Why is this breaker listed as both ABB and General Electric?

ABB acquired GE Industrial Solutions. As a result, GE Q-Line breakers and PowerMark Gold load centers are now manufactured by ABB. The THQL2190 is the exact same OEM component whether it arrives in GE or ABB packaging, and it is fully interchangeable in panels listed for THQL breakers.

Will the THQL2190 fit in older GE A-Series panelboards?

Yes, this breaker is compatible with legacy GE A-Series panelboards, specifically Types AL and AQ, in addition to modern GE PowerMark Gold and ABB ReliaHome load centers.

What does the LI trip function code mean on the THQL2190?

The LI designation indicates that the thermal magnetic trip unit includes both Long-Time and Instantaneous trip functions. The long-time function protects against sustained overloads, while the instantaneous function trips the breaker immediately during a short circuit.
