The EHB14040 is a bolt-on breaker designed specifically for legacy Square D NEHB panelboards. It will not fit in newer NF or NQ series panelboards.
Can I substitute an EDB series breaker for the EHB14040 in my existing panel?
No. Although the EDB series replaced the EHB series in Square D's lineup, EDB breakers are built for NF panelboards. They have a different mounting configuration and cannot be installed in older NEHB enclosures.
What are the acceptable wire sizes for the EHB14040 lugs?
The terminal lugs accommodate 14 to 2 AWG copper (Cu) conductors or 12 to 2 AWG aluminum (Al) conductors. Ensure connections are torqued to the manufacturer specifications listed on the breaker label.
How does the interrupting rating (AIC) scale with voltage on the EHB14040?
The breaker provides a 65 kAIC rating when applied at 120 VAC, but the interrupting capacity drops to 14 kAIC when used at its maximum rated voltage of 277 VAC. Verify your system's available fault current before installation.
How can I identify if the EHB14040 has tripped in a crowded panelboard?
The breaker is equipped with a Visi-Trip indicator. When the breaker trips due to an overcurrent or short circuit event, a highly visible red indicator appears in the window to help quickly locate the faulted circuit.

Expedited Shipments
Orders being shipped via Next Day Air, 2 Day Shipping or 3 Day Shipping must be received by 3 PM EST to guarantee same-day shipments. Expedited orders only ship on normal business days. Shipments will NOT be sent out on Saturdays and Sundays.
