No. The CHB220 is a bolt-on circuit breaker designed specifically for Type PB and PH panelboards, meter panels, and multi-metering modules. Standard residential CH load centers require plug-on Type CH breakers, not bolt-on Type CHB breakers.
Is the Eaton CHB220 the same as the Cutler-Hammer CHB220?
Yes. Eaton acquired Cutler-Hammer and continues to manufacture the CHB series. The Eaton CHB220 is the exact, UL-listed replacement for older Cutler-Hammer CHB220 breakers installed in legacy PB and PH panelboards.
What is the difference between the CHB220 and the CH220?
The CHB220 features a bolt-on connection for commercial panelboards and metering modules. The CH220 features a plug-on connection for standard residential load centers. Because of the different mounting styles, they are not interchangeable.
How does the CHB220 mount to the panel bus?
The CHB220 uses a bolt-on connection type. It secures directly to the panelboard bus using a threaded fastener, providing a highly reliable mechanical and electrical connection suitable for commercial applications and metering modules.
How should the wiring be terminated on the CHB220?
The breaker is equipped with box lugs that accept 14 AWG to 8 AWG wire. When installing, strip the insulation according to the manufacturer guidelines and torque the terminal screws to the exact value specified on the side of the breaker to ensure a secure connection.
Is the CHB220 suitable for straight 240V applications?
