Why is this breaker listed under both the ABB and General Electric brands?
ABB acquired GE Industrial Solutions. The THQL series is now manufactured under the ABB brand, but these breakers remain fully backward compatible with legacy GE PowerMark Gold panels.
How is the neutral connection made on this AFCI breaker?
The THQL2120AF features a pigtail neutral connection. The coiled white wire must be connected directly to the neutral bus bar in the load center to ensure proper arc fault detection.
Is the THQL2120AF a Combination AFCI or a Branch/Feeder AFCI?
This model is a Branch/Feeder AFCI. It is the predecessor to the THQL2120AF2, which is a Combination AFCI. Verify your local electrical code requirements before installation to ensure a Branch/Feeder AFCI is permitted for your application.
How much panel space does the THQL2120AF require?
As a standard 1-inch format Q-Line breaker, this 2-pole unit requires two full 1-inch spaces in the load center.
How should the arc fault protection be tested after installation?
Once installed and energized, press the test button on the front of the breaker. The breaker should trip immediately, indicating the arc fault circuitry is functioning correctly. Reset the breaker by moving the handle fully to the OFF position, then back to the ON position.
