What does the -1212 suffix indicate on the KAL36175-1212?
The -1212 suffix means this breaker comes with a factory-installed 1A/1B auxiliary switch. This provides auxiliary contacts for remote signaling of the breaker status.
What is the modern replacement for the legacy KAL36175-1212?
The KAL series is a legacy K-Frame device. For modern upgrades or new builds requiring a 175A breaker, Square D replaces this with the PowerPact J-Frame series.
What equipment is compatible with the KAL36175-1212?
This unit-mount breaker is designed for use in Square D enclosures, switchboards, and motor control centers that accommodate legacy K-Frame footprints.
How is the KAL36175-1212 mounted in a panel?
This is a unit-mount, feed-thru circuit breaker. It secures directly to the mounting surface rather than plugging onto a busbar, and it uses lugs on both the line and load sides for wire connections.
Are the trip settings adjustable on this breaker?
Yes, the magnetic trip is adjustable, allowing you to fine-tune the short-circuit protection for system coordination. The thermal overload protection is fixed.
Is the KAL36175-1212 suitable for HVAC applications?
Yes, this breaker is HACR rated, meaning it is certified for use with heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
