6 answersIs the KAL36150 still manufactured, or is there a direct replacement?
The KAL36150 is a legacy K-Frame breaker. For new installations or panel upgrades, Square D recommends replacing it with the modern PowerPact J-Frame series, such as the JGL36150. If you are replacing an existing KAL unit, check your enclosure dimensions since the J-Frame has a different footprint.
What is the magnetic trip range for this 150A breaker?
This thermal-magnetic breaker features a fixed thermal element for long-time protection and an adjustable instantaneous magnetic trip. The magnetic trip dial can be set between 750A and 1500A, allowing you to coordinate the breaker with system inrush currents to prevent nuisance tripping.
What lug kit comes standard with this K-Frame breaker?
The factory standard lug kit is the AL250KA. It accommodates one aluminum or copper conductor per phase, accepting wire sizes from 4 AWG to 350 kcmil, and requires a seating torque of 250 lb-in during installation.
Can the KAL36150 be installed in an I-Line panelboard?
No. The KAL36150 is a feed-thru, unit-mount circuit breaker that requires traditional wire lug connections on both the line and load sides. It does not have the plug-on jaw connections required for Square D I-Line busway panels.
Is this breaker rated for use in DC voltage applications?
Yes, this breaker carries a 250VDC rating with a 10kA interrupting capacity. When using molded case circuit breakers in DC applications, always consult the manufacturer wiring diagrams to ensure proper series pole connections.
What types of enclosures are compatible with the KAL36150?

Expedited Shipments
