Engineered for older electrical systems, the NA225 delivers 25 amps of thermal-magnetic protection. This legacy component helps safely maintain existing power distribution networks. It mounts into classic Federal Pacific Stab-Lok load centers, utilizing a standard plug-on connection. For modern replacements, the UBIF0225N thin series serves as a compatible substitute. Rated at 10 kAIC at 120/240VAC, it features a full 1-inch per pole width and a color-coded handle.
What is the difference between Federal Pacific NA and NC circuit breakers?
Federal Pacific NA breakers are the original thick style, measuring 1 inch per pole. The NC series are thin or half-size breakers, measuring 0.5 inches per pole. The NA225 is a 2-pole thick breaker and requires 2 inches of total space in a Stab-Lok panel.
Are Federal Pacific Stab-Lok circuit breakers safe to use?
Federal Pacific Electric (FPE) Stab-Lok panels and breakers have a documented history of failing to trip during overloads or short circuits, which presents a significant fire hazard. While replacement breakers like the NA225 can restore temporary functionality, most licensed electricians and home inspectors strongly recommend upgrading the entire electrical panel to a modern, code-compliant system.
Are there modern aftermarket replacements for the Federal Pacific NA225?
Yes. Because original Federal Pacific breakers are obsolete, companies like Connecticut Electric manufacture modern, ETL-listed aftermarket replacement breakers designed specifically to fit classic Stab-Lok load centers.
Will the NA225 fit in any Federal Pacific electrical panel?
The NA225 is designed exclusively for Federal Pacific Stab-Lok load centers that accept full-size NA frame breakers. It will not fit in panels that only accept the thinner NC style breakers or in non-Stab-Lok panels.
What size wire is compatible with the NA225 breaker lugs?
The load side lugs on the NA225 accept wiring ranging from 14 AWG to 2 AWG. Always verify the appropriate wire size for a 25-amp circuit based on current National Electrical Code (NEC) standards and the specific conductor material.
