Product FAQs

5 answers
What electrical panels are compatible with the NA235 circuit breaker?

This breaker is designed exclusively for use in classic Federal Pacific Stab-Lok load centers. It features a unique plug-on stab configuration that is required to mount onto FPE busbars and will not fit in standard modern panels.

What is the physical width of the NA235 breaker?

The NA series is a thick style breaker, measuring 1 inch per pole. As a 2-pole breaker, the NA235 requires 2 inches of physical space on the panel busbar.

What is the difference between Federal Pacific NA and NC series breakers?

The NA series features a thick design measuring 1 inch per pole, while the NC series uses a thin design measuring 0.5 inches per pole. Both are designed for Stab-Lok panels, but they require different amounts of physical space on the busbar.

What does the LI trip function code mean on the NA235?

The LI designation indicates that the breaker uses thermal-magnetic trip technology. The L stands for Long-Time delay, which provides thermal protection against sustained overloads. The I stands for Instantaneous trip, which uses a magnetic mechanism to quickly clear severe short circuits.

Are there known safety concerns with Federal Pacific Stab-Lok panels?

Yes. Industry professionals and the Consumer Product Safety Commission have documented that original FPE Stab-Lok breakers have a high failure rate when it comes to tripping during overcurrent or short-circuit conditions. Many licensed electricians recommend replacing the entire Stab-Lok panel rather than just swapping individual breakers.
