The FAL26025 is a legacy F-frame circuit breaker. For modern panel upgrades or replacements, it crosses over to the PowerPact HDL26025, which offers the same 25A rating and 2-pole configuration but features an updated H-frame design.
What is the recommended lug torque for the FAL26025 circuit breaker?
For the standard lugs accepting 14 to 4 AWG wire, the required torque is 35 lb-in for copper and stranded aluminum conductors. If using 12 to 10 AWG solid aluminum wire, the torque requirement is 15 lb-in.
Can the FAL26025 be used in DC power systems?
Yes. In addition to its AC ratings of up to 600VAC, this thermal-magnetic breaker is rated for 250VDC applications with an interrupting capacity of 10kAIC.
How does the FAL26025 mount inside an enclosure or panel?
This is a unit-mount, feed-thru circuit breaker. It does not plug onto a busbar or use an I-Line connection. Instead, it bolts directly to the backpan of compatible Square D enclosures, control panels, or switchboards and uses wire lugs on both the line and load sides.
What does the LI trip function mean on this breaker?
The LI designation indicates that the thermal-magnetic trip unit provides Long-Time (L) and Instantaneous (I) protection. The long-time function protects against sustained overloads, while the instantaneous function trips the breaker immediately during a short circuit. Both thermal and magnetic trip settings are fixed on this 25A model.
What type of wire can be used with the FAL26025?
The factory-installed lugs are rated for both copper (Cu) and aluminum (Al) conductors ranging from 14 AWG to 4 AWG. Ensure you use conductors rated for 60 degrees C or 75 degrees C as required by your specific installation.
