7 answersHow does the CQD3100 mount in a control panel?
This breaker is engineered for cable-in, cable-out configurations. It mounts independently on standard 35mm customer-supplied DIN rail, or it can be bolted directly to a flat surface in OEM enclosures and control panels.
Can I add a shunt trip or auxiliary switch to this breaker?
Yes. The CQD series accepts field-installable internal accessories such as shunt trips, auxiliary switches, and alarm switches. These add-on operational modules mount exclusively to the left side of the breaker housing.
Is the CQD3100 circuit breaker suitable for reverse feed applications?
Yes. Siemens CQD thermal-magnetic molded case circuit breakers are UL Listed for reverse feed wiring. You can safely wire line power to the bottom load lugs without impacting the breaker trip functionality.
Can this breaker be used on a 480V grounded B-phase system?
No. Because this breaker carries a 480Y/277V slash rating, it is not suitable for 3-phase delta 480V AC systems with a grounded B-phase. It must only be installed on solidly grounded wye systems to ensure safe short circuit interruption.
Is the Siemens CQD3100 HACR rated?
Yes, all 15A through 100A Siemens BQD and CQD series breakers carry an HACR rating. This makes the breaker compliant for protecting heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment circuits.
What is the difference between Siemens BQD and CQD breakers?
Both frames share identical 1-inch pole widths and internal trip units, but they differ significantly in their physical mounting. BQD breakers are designed to install into Siemens lighting panelboards, while CQD breakers are standalone cable-in, cable-out units designed for DIN rail or surface mounting.
Is there a 600V equivalent for the CQD3100 for Canadian applications?
Yes. If you require a breaker for a 600Y/347VAC application in Canada, you will need the CQD6 catalog series. Standard CQD breakers are limited to a 480Y/277VAC maximum rating, whereas the CQD6 variants carry CSA approval for 600V systems.

Expedited Shipments
