The HGL36100 is a unit-mount circuit breaker designed for surface mounting in industrial control panels, standard switchboards, and standalone PowerPacT H-Frame enclosures. It is not compatible with plug-on bus systems.
What is the difference between the HGL36100, HDL36100, and HJL36100?
These models share the same PowerPacT H-Frame footprint and 100A trip units, but their short-circuit interrupting ratings vary. The HGL36100 provides a 35kA rating at 480VAC. The HDL36100 offers a lower 25kA rating, while the HJL36100 provides a higher 65kA rating at 480VAC. Select the model that meets or exceeds your system's available fault current.
Is the HGL36100 suitable for I-Line panelboards?
No. The HGL36100 is a feed-thru, unit-mount circuit breaker configured with lugs on both ends. If you need a plug-on breaker for a Square D I-Line bus, you must use the I-Line variant, catalog number HGA36100.
Are line and load lugs included with this breaker?
Yes. The HGL36100 comes factory-equipped with lugs on both the line and load sides. These terminals accept either aluminum or copper (Al/Cu) wire in sizes ranging from 14 AWG to 3/0 AWG.
Can I adjust the trip settings on the HGL36100?
No. This breaker features a standard thermal-magnetic trip unit with fixed thermal (Long-Time) and fixed magnetic (Instantaneous) pickup settings. It does not include adjustable dials for field modification.
How does the HGL36100 indicate a tripped state?
It utilizes Square D's Visi-Trip indicator technology. When the breaker trips due to an overcurrent or short-circuit event, the operating handle moves to a central position and exposes a high-visibility red flag. This helps technicians quickly spot the tripped circuit inside a crowded control panel.
Can the HGL36100 be used in direct current (DC) systems?
Yes. In addition to AC circuits, this breaker is UL listed for DC applications up to 500VDC. It provides a 20kA interrupting capacity at both 250VDC and 500VDC. Confirm your specific wiring configuration complies with Schneider Electric requirements for DC thermal-magnetic protection.
Does the HGL36100 replace older Square D F-Frame breakers?
Yes. The PowerPacT H-Frame series serves as the modern replacement for discontinued 100A F-Frame models, such as the legacy FHL36100. Because physical dimensions vary between F-Frame and H-Frame designs, verify your enclosure spacing and panel hardware when upgrading.

Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.
Same Day Shipping

Expedited Shipments
