The FAL22080 is a legacy F-Frame circuit breaker that has been phased out by Schneider Electric. It is superseded by the newer PowerPact B-Frame series, which maintains the same mounting footprint for easy retrofitting in existing control panels.
What type of enclosures and panels are compatible with the FAL22080?
This unit-mount, feed-thru breaker is designed for use in Square D control panels, switchboards, and standalone F-Frame enclosures, such as the FA100X cast aluminum NEMA 7 enclosure.
How is the FAL22080 installed in a panel?
As a unit-mount breaker, it bolts directly to the backpan or mounting plate of a control panel or enclosure using mounting screws. Unlike I-Line breakers, it does not plug directly onto a panelboard busbar.
Is the FAL22080 suitable for direct current (DC) systems?
Yes. While commonly used in 240VAC systems, this breaker is also rated for 250VDC applications. It provides a 5kA interrupting capacity for DC control circuits and industrial equipment.
Are the terminal lugs field-replaceable, and what is the standard lug kit?
Yes, the mechanical lugs can be replaced if damaged. The factory-installed lugs for 35A to 100A F-Frame breakers correspond to the AL100FA lug kit, which accommodates both copper and aluminum conductors.
Can the trip settings on the FAL22080 be adjusted?
No, this breaker features a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit. Both the long-time overload and instantaneous short-circuit trip thresholds are factory set and cannot be modified in the field.

No, the FAL22080 provides standard thermal-magnetic protection against overloads and short circuits. It does not include GFCI or AFCI circuitry.

Expedited Shipments
