No. Shunt trips for Square D QOU miniature circuit breakers cannot be added in the field. They must be factory-installed, which is why the QOU1201021 must be ordered as a complete unit.
How much mounting space does the QOU1201021 require?
Although it is a 1-pole breaker, the factory-installed shunt trip takes up an additional pole space. The total width of the unit is 1.5 inches, equivalent to two standard 0.75-inch pole spaces.
