This bolt-on miniature breaker is designed for use in Eaton Pow-R-Line panelboards, such as the PRL1a and PRL2a, as well as legacy Westinghouse panelboards that accept Quicklag BAB series breakers.
Can the shunt trip on this breaker be field-installed?
No. For miniature breakers in the Quicklag family, the shunt trip is a factory-installed option only. It cannot be added as a field accessory to a standard BAB circuit breaker.
How is the shunt trip activated on the BAB3040HS?
The factory-installed shunt trip module contains a coil that trips the breaker and opens the circuit when an external control voltage is applied. This is typically wired to a fire alarm system, emergency stop button, or other remote control source.
What type of protection does the thermal-magnetic trip mechanism provide?
The thermal element responds to continuous, long-time overloads by heating up and tripping the breaker, while the magnetic element provides instantaneous tripping in the event of a high-fault short circuit.

Expedited Shipments
