This breaker requires a total of six 1-inch spaces. Because it is a cross-panel main breaker, it mounts directly across the bus bar, occupying three spaces on the left side and three spaces on the right side.
What is the minimum load center rating required to use this main breaker?
Manufacturer specifications require the BJ3125 to be installed in an Eaton BR or legacy Bryant load center with a minimum bus rating of 150 amps.
Will this breaker fit into a standard single-phase residential panel?
No. As a 3-pole breaker, it is strictly designed for 3-phase electrical systems. It will not properly fit or function in a standard single-phase load center.
Can I use this Eaton breaker to replace a legacy Bryant main breaker?
Yes. Eaton manufactures the BJ and BR series as direct, backward-compatible replacements for older Bryant and Westinghouse load centers that utilize the same plug-on footprint.
How does the trip mechanism respond to a single-phase fault?
The breaker is equipped with an internal common trip linkage. If an overcurrent or short circuit event occurs on any individual phase, all three poles will trip simultaneously to safely isolate the entire circuit.
Is a hold-down kit required when installing the BJ3125?
If you are installing this breaker as a back-fed main device, National Electrical Code (NEC) guidelines require an approved hold-down kit to mechanically secure the plug-on breaker to the panel bus.
