This plug-on breaker is designed for current Eaton Type BR 3-phase load centers. It is also fully backwards compatible with legacy Westinghouse and Bryant enclosures that accept Type BJ breakers.
How many panel spaces does the BJ3225 require?
As a wide-body 3-pole breaker, the BJ3225 occupies six standard 1-inch pole spaces across the bus (three spaces on the left and three spaces on the right).
Do I need a hold-down kit for the BJ3225?
If you are installing the BJ3225 as a back-fed main breaker, the National Electrical Code (NEC) requires a compatible hold-down screw kit to secure the breaker to the panel bus.
Can the BJ3225 replace older Bryant or Westinghouse breakers?
Yes, Eaton manufactures the BJ3225 as the direct, UL-listed replacement for obsolete 225A, 3-pole Type BJ breakers originally made by Bryant and Westinghouse.
Can the BJ3225 be used as a main breaker?
Yes, while commonly used as a high-amperage branch breaker, the BJ3225 can also serve as a main breaker or service disconnect in compatible panels rated for 225A or higher.
Does the BJ3225 provide common trip functionality?
Yes, it features an internal common trip mechanism. If a fault or overload is detected on any single phase, all three poles will trip simultaneously to safely disconnect the entire circuit.
Is the BJ3225 suitable for 208Y/120V systems?
Yes, this 240VAC-rated 3-pole breaker is fully compatible with 208Y/120V three-phase, four-wire systems, as well as standard 240V three-phase systems.

Expedited Shipments
