6 answersCan I use the Eaton FD3100 to replace an older Westinghouse or Cutler-Hammer FD3100?
Yes. Eaton acquired the Westinghouse and Cutler-Hammer circuit breaker divisions. The current Eaton FD3100 is physically and electrically identical, making it a direct replacement for vintage Westinghouse FD3100 breakers.
What is the difference between the FDB3100, FD3100, and HFD3100 catalog numbers?
These are all 100-amp, 3-pole Series C F-frame breakers with the same physical dimensions, but they differ in short circuit interrupting capacity at 480VAC. The FDB3100 is rated for 14kAIC, the standard FD3100 is 35kAIC, and the high-interrupting HFD3100 is rated for 65kAIC.
Does the FD3100 come with mounting lugs on both sides?
By standard factory configuration, this panel-mount breaker includes load-side lugs for wire connections. The line-side typically bolts directly to the busbar in an Eaton Series C panelboard, so line-side lugs are not included unless specified.
Is the FD3100 suitable for reverse feed applications?
Yes. Standard thermal-magnetic Eaton Series C F-frame breakers are not marked with dedicated line and load sides, making them fully suitable for reverse feed installations.
Can I install internal accessories like a shunt trip in this breaker?
Yes, the Series C F-frame platform supports a variety of internal accessories, including shunt trips, auxiliary switches, and undervoltage releases, which install directly into the internal accessory pockets of the breaker poles.
What is the modern replacement series if I am upgrading my equipment?
For full infrastructure upgrades, Eaton officially replaces the Series C FD3100 with the Power Defense platform, typically part number PDG23G0100TFFJ. However, the FD3100 remains available to service and maintain existing Series C panelboards.

Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.
Same Day Shipping
We strive to ship out your items the same day the order is placed. In rare circumstances SuperBreakers may reserve up to 5 business days to consolidate orders for complete shipment.
Expedited Shipments
Orders being shipped via Next Day Air, 2 Day Shipping or 3 Day Shipping must be received by 3 PM EST to guarantee same-day shipments. Expedited orders only ship on normal business days. Shipments will NOT be sent out on Saturdays and Sundays.

The breaker we purchased was as advertised. The breaker fit perfectly. We purchased reconditioned breaker and it seems to be working properly, accordingly to the golf course maintenance team that supervises the irrigation system.
Next day shipping came quickly even though the 4th of July was coming.
I wish it came with new installations hardware but that isn’t a deal breaker.
