6 answersDoes the Eaton HFD3090 replace older Westinghouse models?
Yes. Eaton acquired the Westinghouse electrical distribution division. The current Eaton HFD3090 is a direct replacement for legacy Westinghouse and Cutler-Hammer breakers that share the exact same catalog number.
What is the difference between FD and HFD frame breakers?
The H in HFD designates a high interrupting capacity version of the standard F-frame breaker. While a standard FD breaker has a lower interrupting rating at 480 VAC, the HFD provides 65 kA at 480 VAC for applications with higher available fault currents.
Do the standard terminals accept both copper and aluminum wire?
Yes. The standard pressure line and load terminals provided with this 90A breaker are dual-rated for Cu/Al conductors and accept wire sizes from 14 AWG to 1/0 AWG.
Is the trip curve field adjustable on this model?
No. The HFD3090 features a fixed thermal and fixed magnetic trip unit. The Long-Time (L) and Instantaneous (I) protection settings are factory set and cannot be adjusted in the field.
What type of enclosures accept this F-frame breaker?
This bolt-on breaker is designed exclusively for Eaton, Cutler-Hammer, and legacy Westinghouse Series C panelboards, switchboards, and motor control centers.
Is this breaker suitable for direct current applications?
Yes, the HFD3090 is UL listed for use in DC systems up to 250 VDC, providing a 22 kA interrupting rating for those specific applications.

Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.
Same Day Shipping
We strive to ship out your items the same day the order is placed. In rare circumstances SuperBreakers may reserve up to 5 business days to consolidate orders for complete shipment.
Expedited Shipments
Orders being shipped via Next Day Air, 2 Day Shipping or 3 Day Shipping must be received by 3 PM EST to guarantee same-day shipments. Expedited orders only ship on normal business days. Shipments will NOT be sent out on Saturdays and Sundays.
