The H in HJD3250 designates a High Interrupting Capacity. While both breakers share the exact same physical J-Frame dimensions and bolt patterns, the HJD3250 contains upgraded internal components to safely clear higher short-circuit fault currents, offering 65kAIC at 480VAC compared to the lower standard JD rating.
Will this Eaton breaker replace an older Westinghouse HJD3250?
Yes. Eaton acquired the Cutler-Hammer and Westinghouse distribution equipment lines. The current production HJD3250 is a direct, drop-in replacement for legacy Westinghouse and Cutler-Hammer Series C J-Frame breakers, including the HJD3250F.
How does the thermal-magnetic trip unit operate on this breaker?
The HJD3250 features a fixed thermal overload and an adjustable magnetic instantaneous trip. The installer can adjust the magnetic dial to fine-tune short-circuit protection, typically between 5 and 10 times the 250A continuous rating, helping coordinate with other devices in your power system.
What type of wire terminals are included on the HJD3250?
This breaker includes standard factory-installed line and load lugs, specifically catalog number TA250KB. These mechanical lugs are rated for either copper or aluminum conductors sized from 4 AWG up to 350 kcmil.
Can I install the HJD3250 in a reverse feed configuration?
Yes. Eaton Series C J-Frame circuit breakers with standard thermal-magnetic trip units are approved for reverse feed applications. They are also HACR rated for use with heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.

Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.
Same Day Shipping
We strive to ship out your items the same day the order is placed. In rare circumstances SuperBreakers may reserve up to 5 business days to consolidate orders for complete shipment.
Expedited Shipments
Orders being shipped via Next Day Air, 2 Day Shipping or 3 Day Shipping must be received by 3 PM EST to guarantee same-day shipments. Expedited orders only ship on normal business days. Shipments will NOT be sent out on Saturdays and Sundays.
