Product FAQs
6 answers
Can I adjust the trip settings on the KD3350?
Yes, while the thermal element for long-time overload protection is fixed, the magnetic instantaneous trip is adjustable. This allows panel builders to coordinate short-circuit protection with downstream devices in the electrical system.
Which electrical enclosures accommodate the KD3350?
This K-frame circuit breaker installs in Eaton Series C panelboards, switchboards, and motor control centers. The enclosure must be specifically configured for unit mount, feed-thru K-frame breakers rather than plug-on types.
What type of wire connections are standard on this 350A breaker?
The unit includes mechanical lugs on both the line and load sides that accept 250 to 500 kcmil aluminum or copper conductors. Use a calibrated torque wrench during installation to meet the torque requirements printed on the breaker faceplate.
Will an Eaton KD3350 replace an older Cutler-Hammer or Westinghouse KD3350?
Yes. Eaton acquired the Cutler-Hammer and Westinghouse distribution equipment lines. A modern Eaton KD3350 has the exact same K-frame footprint, mounting configuration, and specifications as the legacy Cutler-Hammer or Westinghouse KD3350.
Is the KD3350 approved for use in direct current systems?
Yes, alongside standard AC ratings up to 600VAC, this thermal-magnetic breaker is rated for 250VDC with a 10kA interrupting capacity. Verify your DC system fault current does not exceed 10kA before installation.
Are there specific mounting considerations for this feed-thru breaker?
Because it is a feed-thru unit mount breaker, it requires physical bolting or bracket mounting within the enclosure rather than snapping onto a bus. De-energize all upstream power before physically mounting the unit and landing the line side cables.
