What types of electrical panels accept the QB1030GF circuit breaker?
This bolt-on miniature breaker is specifically designed for Eaton Pow-R-Line panelboards and other commercial enclosures that accept BAB or QB-frame bolt-on breakers. It cannot be installed in standard plug-on residential loadcenters like the Eaton BR or CH series.
Does the QB1030GF provide 5mA personnel protection or 30mA equipment protection?
The "GF" suffix in the catalog number designates this as a Class A Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) with a 5mA trip threshold, which is required for personnel protection. Eaton uses an "EP" suffix for its 30mA Ground Fault Equipment Protectors (GFEP).
How must the neutral be wired for this breaker to function correctly?
Because this is a pigtail-style GFCI breaker, you must land the coiled white pigtail wire directly onto the panel's neutral bus bar. The load neutral wire then connects to the neutral terminal on the breaker itself to allow the internal current transformer to monitor for ground faults.
Are the box lug terminals rated for both copper and aluminum wiring?
Yes, the terminals accept both copper (Cu) and aluminum (Al) conductors within the 14 AWG to 4 AWG size range. When terminating aluminum wiring, an approved oxide inhibitor should be applied to the stripped conductor.
Can this 1-pole GFCI breaker be used on a multi-wire branch circuit with a shared neutral?
No. Single-pole GFCI breakers like the QB1030GF monitor the current imbalance between their specific ungrounded load conductor and the load neutral. Using a shared neutral across two phases will immediately cause nuisance tripping. A 2-pole GFCI breaker is required for multi-wire branch circuits.
Does this breaker provide combination arc fault (AFCI) protection?
No. The QB1030GF only provides thermal-magnetic overcurrent and ground fault (GFCI) protection. If your application requires AFCI or dual-function (AFCI/GFCI) protection, a different breaker model with an "AF" or "DF" suffix is required.
How often should the integrated GFCI mechanism be tested?
