Product FAQs

9 answers
What does the WL suffix mean in the TED134100WL catalog number?

The WL suffix indicates that the breaker is supplied with factory-installed copper and aluminum (Cu/Al) line and load lugs. E-Frame breakers without this suffix typically do not include line-side lugs.

Can I use this ABB/GE breaker to replace an older General Electric TED134100?

Yes. ABB acquired GE Industrial Solutions, so current production ABB TED breakers are direct physical and electrical replacements for legacy General Electric models with the matching catalog number.

What is the accepted wire range for the factory lugs on this breaker?

The included lugs are rated to accept 3 AWG to 3/0 AWG for copper (Cu) conductors, and 1 AWG to 3/0 AWG for aluminum (Al) conductors.

Are the thermal or magnetic trip settings adjustable on the TED134100WL?

No, both the long-time (thermal) and instantaneous (magnetic) overcurrent trip functions on this E150 frame breaker are factory fixed and cannot be adjusted in the field.

What type of enclosures or panels are compatible with this GE E-Frame breaker?

The TED134100WL is a unit-mount or feed-thru breaker designed for use in GE individual enclosures, switchboards, and motor control centers rather than plug-on load centers.

Can this molded case circuit breaker be used in DC applications?

Yes, the TED134100WL is rated for up to 500VDC applications with a 10kA interrupting capacity, making it suitable for certain industrial and commercial DC circuits.

What is the correct torque specification for tightening the lugs on this breaker?

Torque values depend on the exact wire size and material being installed. Always refer directly to the manufacturer label on the side of the breaker or the specific lug body for accurate torque specifications to ensure a safe and compliant connection.

What is the difference between the GE TEB, TED, and THED series breakers?

All three belong to the GE E150 frame family and share the same physical dimensions, but they differ in short-circuit interrupting capacity. TEB represents the standard tier, TED is the mid-tier, and THED provides the highest interrupting ratings for high-fault applications.

Why is it critical to verify the interrupting rating (AIC) before installing this breaker?

Per NEC 110.9, equipment intended to interrupt fault currents must have an interrupting rating sufficient for the available fault current at the line terminals. Substituting a lower-rated breaker can cause severe equipment failure and safety hazards during a short circuit.
