Product FAQs
7 answers
What panelboards are compatible with the TEYL3035B?
This breaker is designed for use in GE A-Series panelboards, specifically Type AS bolt-on lighting panels.
What does the L in TEYL signify compared to standard TEY breakers?
The L indicates the highest short-circuit interrupting tier for this frame. The TEYL3035B delivers a 65kA interrupting rating at 480V, whereas standard TEY breakers are rated at 14kA and TEYH models at 35kA.
Can I use the TEYL3035B to replace a lower rated TEY3035B or TEYH3035B?
Yes. The TEYL frame shares the exact same 1-inch per pole spacing and physical dimensions as the TEY and TEYH models. Installing the TEYL upgrades your interrupting capacity to 65kA without requiring extra panel space.
What are the torque specifications for the load lugs on the TEYL3035B?
For the accepted 10-4 AWG wire range, the required terminal torque is 35 in-lbs for 10 AWG, 40 in-lbs for 8 AWG, and 45 in-lbs for 6-4 AWG conductors.
Why might my replacement TEYL3035B be branded as ABB instead of General Electric?
ABB acquired GE Industrial Solutions. Recent manufacturing runs of the TEYL series feature ABB branding. They are exact drop-in replacements with identical form, fit, and electrical specifications as legacy GE units.
Can this breaker be installed independently outside of an A-Series panelboard?
Yes. While it is built as a bolt-on branch breaker, the TEYL family can be used in standalone lug-to-lug installations when fitted with the appropriate three-pole mounting base accessory.
How does the LI trip unit protect the electrical circuit?
The Long-Time (L) function uses a thermal element to protect against sustained overloads, while the Instantaneous (I) function uses a magnetic element to immediately trip the breaker during a severe short circuit.
