Built to handle specialized commercial loads, this 15A Sentron series breaker features High Intensity Discharge (HID) ratings perfect for facility lighting circuits. The HEB3B015B offers a 65kAIC rating at 480VAC and mounts into a wide range of Siemens enclosures, including P1, P2, P3, P4, and P5 panelboards. Equipped with TA1EG10 load lugs accommodating 14-1/0 AWG copper wire, this three-pole thermal-magnetic unit ensures precise overcurrent protection for critical industrial infrastructure.
Which panelboards accept the HEB3B015B circuit breaker?
This breaker is compatible with Siemens P1, P2, P3, P4, and P5 series panelboards. As a bolt-on unit, your panelboard interior must be configured to accept NEB or HEB frame breakers.
What size conductors can be used with the factory lugs?
The included lugs accept copper wire ranging from 14 AWG to 1/0 AWG and aluminum wire from 12 AWG to 1/0 AWG. Verify your conductor size matches the 15-amp load requirements and properly torque all connections during installation.
How does the 600Y/347V rating restrict this breaker's application?
The slash rating of 600Y/347VAC indicates the breaker is certified only for solidly grounded wye systems where the line-to-ground voltage does not exceed 347V. It is not rated for use on 600V ungrounded or corner-grounded delta systems.
Are the thermal and magnetic trip elements adjustable on this model?
No, the HEB3B015B has a fixed thermal and fixed magnetic trip unit. Both the long-time overload and instantaneous short-circuit protection thresholds are factory-calibrated for a 15-amp continuous load and cannot be field modified.
Can the HEB3B015B be installed in a DC electrical system?
Yes, this Sentron series breaker carries a direct current rating of 42kAIC at 250VDC. When applying a 3-pole breaker in a DC circuit, ensure you follow the manufacturer guidelines for series wiring the poles if required by your specific system voltage.
Can a Siemens NEB breaker be used instead of the HEB3B015B?
NEB and HEB frame breakers have the same physical dimensions and panelboard compatibility. However, the HEB series has a significantly higher interrupting rating. You can safely replace an NEB with an HEB, but you should only replace an HEB with an NEB if a fault current analysis confirms the lower AIC rating is adequate for your system.
How does the LI trip unit function during a fault?
The LI designation means the breaker provides Long-Time and Instantaneous protection. The long-time thermal element trips on sustained overloads to prevent wire overheating, while the instantaneous magnetic element trips without intentional delay to clear severe short circuits.
