Yes. The HED42B050 shares the same physical ED frame footprint as the ED42B050 but offers a higher interrupting capacity. It can safely replace the standard version when higher fault current protection is required or as a direct physical substitute.
What wire sizes are accepted by the lugs on this breaker?
The factory-installed lugs accept wire gauges from 10 AWG up to 1/0 AWG. The terminals are rated for both copper and aluminum conductors.
Can this breaker be used in DC circuits?
Yes, the HED42B050 is rated for DC applications up to 250VDC, providing a 30kA interrupting capacity for direct current systems.
Is the HED42B050 interchangeable with HED62B050 breakers?
Both belong to the Siemens ED frame family and share the same physical dimensions. However, HED6 breakers are rated for 600VAC, while the HED4 series is capped at 480VAC. You can use an HED6 in place of an HED4, but not vice versa if the system exceeds 480VAC.
Does this breaker mount onto a standard DIN rail?
No. This is a bolt-on molded case circuit breaker designed specifically for bolted connections to the busbars in Siemens panelboards and switchboards. It is not DIN rail mountable.
What type of trip mechanism does the HED42B050 use?

Expedited Shipments
