This breaker is designed exclusively for use in Square D I-Line panelboards and I-Line switchboards. It features an I-Line style plug-in connection that mounts directly onto the panel bus stack.
Does the BDA34070Y replace any older Square D F-frame breakers?
Yes. The PowerPacT B-frame BDA34070Y is the manufacturer-designated direct replacement for the legacy 70A 3-pole F-frame FA34070 circuit breaker in I-Line applications.
Can the BDA34070Y be used on 480V Delta electrical systems?
No. The Y suffix in the catalog number indicates it is rated for a maximum nominal voltage of 480Y/277VAC (Wye systems). It is not designed or rated for 480V Delta applications.
What is the recommended tightening torque for the load side lugs?
The load-side mechanical lugs require a tightening torque of 31.9 to 38.9 lb-in (3.6 to 4.4 N-m) for 14 AWG to 10 AWG wire, and 44.3 to 54.9 lb-in (5.0 to 6.2 N-m) for 8 AWG to 2/0 AWG wire.
Are the load side terminal lugs included with this breaker?
Yes. The BDA34070Y ships standard with factory-installed aluminum mechanical lugs on the load side, which accept both copper and aluminum wire. The line side connects directly via the I-Line plug-in jaws.
What type of fault protection does the LI trip unit provide?
The thermal-magnetic trip unit offers LI protection (Long-Time and Instantaneous). The long-time function provides thermal protection against overloads, while the instantaneous function uses a magnetic mechanism to rapidly clear short-circuit faults.
Is the BDA34070Y rated for HVAC equipment?

Expedited Shipments
