What does the "LI" trip function mean for the EDB34040?
It indicates standard thermal-magnetic protection. The "L" stands for Long-Time, which provides overload protection, while the "I" stands for Instantaneous, which provides short-circuit protection.
Can I use an EGB34040 or EJB34040 in place of the EDB34040?
Yes. The EGB34040 and EJB34040 share the exact same physical E-frame size and bolt-on mounting configuration. They offer higher interrupting ratings (35 kA and 65 kA at 480Y/277V, respectively) and can safely replace the 18 kA-rated EDB34040 if your application allows or requires a higher fault current rating.
Can the Square D EDB34040 be reverse fed?
Yes. The standard EDB34040 does not have "Line" and "Load" markings, meaning it has been evaluated for overcurrent tripping in both directions and can be safely backfed. Note that EPD (Equipment Protection Device) variants of this breaker cannot be reverse fed.
Does the EDB34040 include lugs for wiring?
Yes, this bolt-on breaker comes with factory-installed aluminum lugs on the load side that are approved for both copper and aluminum wire. The line side is designed to bolt directly to the NF panelboard bus.

Expedited Shipments
