This bolt-on E-frame breaker is designed exclusively for Square D NF series lighting panelboards. It will not fit QO, NQ, or I-Line panelboards.
What does the "SA" suffix indicate on this breaker?
The SA suffix indicates a factory-installed shunt trip. For Square D E-frame breakers, this shunt trip operates on a 120V AC control voltage (110 to 130 VAC). Applying voltage to the shunt trip terminals will mechanically trip the breaker for remote shutdown or emergency disconnect.
Can I field-install a shunt trip on a standard EGB34025 breaker instead of buying the SA version?
No. For Square D E-frame breakers, electrical accessories like shunt trips and auxiliary switches are factory-installed only. You must purchase the breaker with the SA suffix if your application requires a shunt trip.
Does the factory-installed shunt trip require extra space in the panel?
Yes. The factory-installed shunt trip on Square D E-frame breakers takes up one additional pole space. A 3-pole breaker with a shunt trip will require four spaces in your NF panelboard.
What is the difference between EDB, EGB, and EJB breakers?
They share the same physical E-frame size and fit the same Square D NF panelboards, but they have different interrupting ratings. EDB is standard interrupting (18 kA at 480Y/277V), EGB is high interrupting (35 kA at 480Y/277V), and EJB is extra-high interrupting (65 kA at 480Y/277V).
Can I replace an EDB34025SA with this EGB34025SA?
Yes. The EGB34025SA has a higher interrupting rating (35 kAIC at 480Y/277V) than the EDB version (18 kAIC). It shares the same physical dimensions and mounting, making it a safe, direct upgrade for Square D NF panelboards as long as the higher rating meets or exceeds your system requirements.
What is the recommended lug tightening torque for the EGB34025SA?
The aluminum lugs on the EGB34025SA should be torqued to 30 lbf-in (3.4 N.m) for both copper and aluminum conductors.
What is the instantaneous magnetic trip range for the EGB34025SA?
The fixed magnetic trip unit has a hold current of 270A (the maximum current it will carry without tripping instantaneously) and a trip current of 875A (the current at which it is guaranteed to trip instantaneously).

Expedited Shipments
