6 answersAre EHB breakers like the EHB14015 interchangeable with modern EDB breakers?
No. While both are manufactured by Square D, the EHB series is specifically designed for legacy NEHB panelboards. Modern EDB breakers are built for NF panelboards and have different mounting footprints, making them incompatible with NEHB busbars.
My panelboard is labeled NEHB, but the replacement breaker is EHB. Is this the correct component?
Yes. NEHB designates the overall legacy panelboard family, while EHB represents the specific molded case circuit breaker series designed to bolt onto the NEHB interior bus structure.
How do the dual AIC ratings apply to this specific breaker?
The interrupting capacity scales depending on the system voltage. This breaker can safely clear up to 65,000 amps of fault current on a standard 120VAC circuit, but only up to 14,000 amps on a 277VAC circuit. Always verify the available fault current at your specific installation point.
How does the fixed thermal-magnetic trip mechanism operate?
The thermal component responds to prolonged overloads by heating a bimetallic strip to open the contacts. The magnetic element reacts immediately to high-level short circuits, providing instantaneous fault clearing. The LI (Long-Time, Instantaneous) trip curves are factory fixed and cannot be adjusted.
Can I terminate aluminum wire directly onto the EHB14015 lugs?
Yes, the integrated terminal lugs are rated for both copper and aluminum conductors. Note that the minimum conductor size differs by material. The lugs accept a minimum of 12 AWG for aluminum wire compared to 14 AWG for copper wire.
Is the 277VAC rating suitable for commercial lighting branch circuits?
Yes. The 277VAC maximum voltage rating makes this 15 amp breaker highly suitable for commercial 277 volt fluorescent or LED lighting circuits, provided continuous load limits are maintained according to standard electrical codes.

Expedited Shipments
