Description
The FC34100 is a 3-pole, 100A molded case circuit breaker from Square D's legacy F-Frame lineup. It provides long-time and instantaneous (LI) trip functions to protect commercial electrical infrastructure. Designed for seamless integration, this unit installs into Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards. It is officially replaced by the HJA36100 for newer installations. 5 answersHow much mounting space does this breaker require in an I-Line panel?
As a 3-pole F-frame breaker, it requires 4.5 inches of vertical mounting space in a Square D I-Line panelboard or switchboard.
Can the FC34100 replace an older FA34100 or FH34100 circuit breaker?
Yes. The FA, FH, and FC series share the exact same physical F-frame dimensions and mount onto the same I-Line bus structure. The FC34100 simply provides a higher interrupting rating than standard FA or high-interrupting FH models, making it a safe and direct upgrade.
Is the continuous current rating of the FC34100 80% or 100%?
Like most standard thermal-magnetic F-frame breakers, it carries a standard 80% continuous current rating. This means the continuous load should not exceed 80 amps (80% of its 100A rating) for periods lasting 3 hours or longer.
Can this circuit breaker be backfed to act as a main breaker?
Yes, thermal-magnetic I-Line breakers can be reverse fed. If you are using it as a backfed main breaker in an I-Line panelboard, the National Electrical Code (NEC) requires it to be permanently labeled as the Main Breaker to maintain the service entrance rating of the panel.
How can I manually test the mechanical trip function?
The breaker is equipped with a standard Push-To-Trip button located on the face of the unit. This feature allows electricians to manually actuate the tripping mechanism for periodic safety testing without exposing live internal electrical parts.

Free Shipping Policy
Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.
Same Day Shipping
We strive to ship out your items the same day the order is placed. In rare circumstances SuperBreakers may reserve up to 5 business days to consolidate orders for complete shipment.
Expedited Shipments
Orders being shipped via Next Day Air, 2 Day Shipping or 3 Day Shipping must be received by 3 PM EST to guarantee same-day shipments. Expedited orders only ship on normal business days. Shipments will NOT be sent out on Saturdays and Sundays.
International Shipping
