This breaker is designed specifically for Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards. It mounts directly to the I-Line bus stack and is not compatible with NQ, NF, QO, or standard load centers.
How are the line and load connections configured on this breaker?
The HGA36040 features a stab-on I-Line connection for the line side, which pushes directly onto the panel bus. The load side is equipped with mechanical lugs that accept 14 to 3/0 AWG aluminum or copper wire.
What are the required tightening torques for the load lugs?
For 14 to 10 AWG wire, the mechanical lugs should be torqued to 44 lb-in (5 N.m). For 8 to 3/0 AWG wire, torque the lugs to 124 lb-in (14 N.m).
What is the recommended wire stripping length for the load terminals?
Strip the wire insulation back 0.63 inches (16 mm) before inserting the conductor into the load side mechanical lugs.
