Engineered for industrial applications, the Square D HJP36030 is a 3-pole, 30A PowerPacT H-Frame molded case circuit breaker. It provides robust overcurrent protection for demanding electrical distribution systems. This unit mount MCCB installs into Square D NF panelboards, QED switchboards, and Model 6 motor control centers. Rated for 65kAIC at 480VAC, it features a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit with LI protection. The breaker is HACR rated and includes Visi-Trip technology.
What does the "J" in the HJP36030 part number indicate?
The "J" specifies the breaker's interrupting rating tier. For the PowerPacT H-frame series, a J-interrupting rating provides 100kA at 240V, 65kA at 480V, and 25kA at 600V. Other options include D (18kA at 480V) and G (35kA at 480V).
What type of terminal connections are included with the HJP36030?
The "P" in the part number indicates that this breaker comes with a terminal nut kit on the ON (line) end and mechanical lugs on the OFF (load) end.
What are the recommended torque specifications for the load lugs on this breaker?
For the standard AL150HD lugs, tighten 14 to 10 AWG wire to 44.3 lb-in (5 Nm). For larger 8 to 3/0 AWG wire, tighten to 123.9 lb-in (14 Nm).
Which panelboards and switchboards are compatible with the HJP36030?
This unit-mount breaker is designed for use in Square D NF panelboards, QED switchboards, and Model 6 motor control centers.
Can the HJP36030 be used in DC electrical systems?
Yes, this thermal-magnetic breaker is rated for DC applications up to 250VDC with a maximum interrupting capacity of 20kA.
What is the difference between the HJP36030 and the HJL36030?
The HJP36030 is a unit-mount breaker with a terminal nut on the line side and a lug on the load side. The HJL36030 is also a unit-mount breaker, but the "L" indicates it comes with mechanical lugs on both the line and load ends.
Can this breaker be reverse fed?
Yes, standard thermal-magnetic PowerPacT H-frame breakers like the HJP36030 are suitable for reverse-fed applications.
What does the "LI" trip function code mean for this breaker?
The "LI" code indicates that the thermal-magnetic trip unit provides Long-Time (L) protection against mild overloads and Instantaneous (I) protection against severe short circuits.
