The standard AL175JD factory lugs on this breaker require a 5/16-inch hex bit. The recommended tightening torque is 225 lb-in for the accepted 4 AWG to 4/0 AWG aluminum or copper wire range.
What is the adjustment range for the instantaneous magnetic trip on this 175A breaker?
The magnetic trip dial on the JDL36175 can be adjusted between a low setting of 875A and a high setting of 1750A. The thermal overload setting is fixed at 175A.
How does the JDL36175 differ from the JGL36175 or JJL36175?
The third letter indicates the interrupt rating. The JDL36175 features a standard D rating (18kA at 480VAC). The JGL36175 provides a higher G rating (35kA at 480VAC), and the JJL36175 provides a J rating (65kA at 480VAC). They share the same physical dimensions and lug configurations.
Can the JDL36175 be installed in a Square D I-Line panelboard?
No. The JDL36175 is a unit-mount breaker configured with lugs on both the line and load sides. For an I-Line panelboard, you need an I-Line plug-on variant such as the JDA36175.
Is the JDL36175 rated for 100 percent continuous load operation?
No. This breaker carries a standard 80 percent continuous current rating. Continuous loads should not exceed 140 amps, which is 80 percent of the 175A nominal rating.
Is the JDL36175 suitable for reverse-fed applications?
Yes. Standard thermal-magnetic PowerPacT J-frame breakers with unit-mount lug configurations are suitable for reverse feeding. There are no internal directional restrictions unless specific directional accessories are installed.
