Engineered for heavy-duty applications, the NE361200LSG is a 1200A, 3-pole molded case circuit breaker from Square D. It delivers reliable power distribution in industrial facilities. With an I-Line connection, it integrates seamlessly into Square D I-Line panelboards. For future upgrades, it is replaced by the PLA36120U64A. It utilizes a Micrologic trip unit with adjustable Long-Time, Short-Time, and Ground-Fault settings, offering a 100kAIC capacity at 480VAC.
How much mounting space does the NE361200LSG require in an I-Line panel?
As an N-frame circuit breaker, this model requires 15 inches of vertical mounting space within a compatible Square D I-Line panelboard or switchboard.
What is the modern replacement for the legacy Square D N-frame breakers?
Schneider Electric transitioned away from the legacy N-frame series, replacing them with the PowerPact P-frame series for 1200A applications. When upgrading an existing panel, you will need to verify the required I-Line mounting space and trip unit configurations before substituting a PowerPact P-frame breaker.
What are the advantages of the LSIG electronic trip unit on this breaker?
The solid-state trip unit allows for precise, field-adjustable coordination of Long-Time, Short-Time, Instantaneous, and Ground-Fault settings. This provides superior selective coordination for complex electrical systems compared to fixed thermal-magnetic trip units.
What size wire can the load-side lugs accommodate?
The factory mechanical lugs on the load side accept up to four conductors per phase. They are rated for wire sizes ranging from 3/0 AWG up to 600 kcmil and safely accept either copper or aluminum conductors.
How does this breaker connect to the panelboard bus?
The NE361200LSG uses a proprietary I-Line plug-on connection for the line side, which clamps directly onto the busbars of the panelboard. The load side utilizes standard mechanical lugs for terminating the branch or feeder cables.
Why is ground-fault protection included on this 1200A breaker?
The National Electrical Code (NEC) requires ground-fault protection of equipment (GFPE) for solidly grounded wye electrical services over 150 volts to ground (such as a 480/277V system) when the main disconnecting means is rated 1000 amps or higher. The 'G' in the LSIG trip unit satisfies this critical safety requirement.
