No. While it belongs to the QO family, the QOB320GFI features a bolt-on mounting mechanism intended specifically for commercial Square D NQ and NQOD panelboards. Standard residential QO load centers require the plug-on version, the QO320GFI.
What is the purpose of the included pigtail wire?
The coiled pigtail must be connected directly to the panelboard neutral bus. This connection powers the internal circuitry required to monitor and detect ground faults, even if the connected load does not utilize a neutral wire.
Will this GFCI breaker work for a 3-wire, 3-phase load without a neutral?
Yes. You can use this breaker to protect 3-wire equipment. You must still connect the breaker's neutral pigtail to the panel to power the GFCI sensor, but the load neutral terminal on the breaker itself can remain unpopulated.
What level of ground-fault protection does this breaker offer?
The QOB320GFI provides Class A ground-fault protection designed for personnel safety. The internal sensor will trip the circuit if it detects a ground-fault leakage current of 6 mA or higher.
How much panel space does this breaker require?
As a 3-pole breaker in the Square D QO format, it requires three standard 3/4-inch spaces, taking up a total of 2.25 inches of width on the panel bus.
How can I visually verify if this breaker has tripped?
This model features the Square D Visi-Trip indicator. When an overcurrent or ground fault causes a trip, the handle snaps to a center position and a bright red flag appears in the indicator window on the face of the breaker.
Does this breaker provide arc-fault protection?
No. The QOB320GFI is strictly for overcurrent, short-circuit, and ground-fault protection. It does not provide arc-fault (AFCI) or dual-function protection.
