This breaker is designed exclusively for use in Eaton and Cutler-Hammer Type CH load centers. It will not fit in Type BR or other manufacturer panels.
What does the ST suffix indicate on the CH215ST?
The ST suffix means this breaker includes a factory-installed 120VAC shunt trip. This feature allows the breaker to be tripped remotely by applying an external control voltage, commonly used with fire alarm systems or emergency stop buttons.
How many panel spaces does the CH215ST require?
This breaker requires three 3/4-inch spaces in the load center. The 2-pole breaker occupies two spaces, and the attached shunt trip module requires one additional space.
Can I field-install a shunt trip onto a standard CH215 breaker?
No. For Eaton miniature circuit breakers like the CH series, the shunt trip is a factory-installed option only. It cannot be added to a standard breaker in the field.
How is the shunt trip module wired?
The shunt trip module features two black leads that are not polarity sensitive. One lead connects to your 120VAC control voltage source, and the other connects to a normally open momentary contact, such as a push button or relay, to complete the circuit.

Expedited Shipments

When our main breaker frizzed out, the option we were presented with was replacing the entire panel and service due to the type and part - no longer produced for replacement parts. It would be a $6500 replacement.
We'll likely have to do it at some point but, for now, the replacement breaker we were able to source from Superbreakers (with a $25 warranty) was $5900 less expensive. installation ran a few hundred dollars and the tech said the part looked to be in excellent condition and was prepped for install as he would have hoped.
