No. The EGB24100 is an E-frame breaker designed exclusively for Square D NF panelboards. NQ panelboards use QO or QOB breakers and are limited to 240VAC maximum, whereas NF panels support 480Y/277VAC applications.
Is the EGB24100 suitable for use on a straight 480V ungrounded delta system?
No. This breaker carries a slash voltage rating of 480Y/277VAC. It must only be applied in solidly grounded wye systems where the voltage to ground does not exceed 277VAC. It is not rated for straight 480V delta or corner-grounded systems.
How does the EGB24100 differ from the EDB24100 and EJB24100?
The difference lies in the interrupting capacity (AIC) at 480Y/277VAC. The EDB24100 is rated at 18kAIC, the EGB24100 is rated at 35kAIC, and the EJB24100 offers the highest rating at 65kAIC. All three share the same physical dimensions and fit NF panelboards.
How does the EGB24100 connect to the panelboard bus?
It features a bolt-on connection that secures directly to the busbars of a Square D NF panelboard. This provides a rigid, high-vibration resistant connection compared to plug-on alternatives.
Can this 2-pole breaker be used for single-phase loads in a 3-phase panel?
Yes. You can use this 2-pole breaker to supply 208V, 240V, or 480V single-phase loads depending on the panel configuration, provided the system voltage does not exceed the breaker maximum ratings.
What type of wire is permitted for the load terminals on the EGB24100?
The factory-installed lugs accept both copper (Cu) and aluminum (Al) conductors. The acceptable wire range is 14 to 2/0 AWG for copper and 12 to 2/0 AWG for aluminum.
Does the EGB24100 include ground fault or equipment protection features?
No. This is a standard thermal-magnetic circuit breaker providing long-time overload and instantaneous short-circuit protection. It does not include GFCI, AFCI, or Equipment Protection Device (EPD) circuitry.
Are padlock attachments available for the EGB24100?
Yes. Square D offers field-installable accessories for E-frame breakers, including the EDPA and EDPAF padlock attachments. These devices allow the breaker handle to be securely locked in the ON or OFF position to comply with lockout/tagout safety procedures.
