Part of Square D's PowerPact H-Frame lineup, the HJP36100 is a 3-pole, 100A molded case circuit breaker engineered for commercial and industrial applications. It provides reliable thermal-magnetic protection with fixed thermal and adjustable magnetic trip settings. This unit-mount MCCB installs into Square D NF panelboards, QED switchboards, and Model 6 MCCs. Rated for 65kAIC at 480VAC, this current-limiting breaker ensures robust fault protection and features a Visi-Trip indicator.
What type of connections does the HJP36100 have on the line and load sides?
The "P" in the catalog number indicates it has terminal nuts on the line side and mechanical lugs on the load side. It is a unit-mount (bolt-on) breaker, not a plug-on I-Line type.
Can I install the HJP36100 in an I-Line panelboard?
No. The HJP36100 is a unit-mount breaker designed for bolt-on applications in Square D NF panelboards, QED switchboards, and Model 6 motor control centers. For an I-Line panelboard, you need the I-Line version, such as the HJA36100.
Is the HJP36100 rated for DC voltage applications?
Yes, this thermal-magnetic breaker is rated for up to 250VDC, with a DC interrupting rating of 20kA.
What does the "J" in the HJP36100 catalog number signify?
The "J" denotes the interrupting rating performance level. For this H-Frame breaker, it provides 100kAIC at 240VAC, 65kAIC at 480VAC, and 25kAIC at 600VAC.
What wire sizes are accepted by the load-side lugs on the HJP36100?
The standard load-side lugs accept 14 AWG to 3/0 AWG aluminum or copper wire.
What is the difference between the HJP36100 and the HJL36100?
Both are 100A, 3-pole, J-interrupting H-Frame breakers. The difference is the termination: the HJP36100 has terminal nuts on the line side and lugs on the load side, while the HJL36100 has mechanical lugs on both the line and load sides.
Does the HJP36100 feature a push-to-trip button?
Yes, like all PowerPacT circuit breakers, it includes an integral push-to-trip button on the cover to manually trip the breaker and verify the mechanical operation of the trip mechanism.
Can I use the HJP36100 in a 240V system?
Yes, it is rated for 240VAC, 480VAC, and 600VAC systems. When used at 240VAC, it provides its maximum interrupting rating of 100kAIC.
Does the HJP36100 support reverse feeding?
Yes, thermal-magnetic PowerPacT H-Frame circuit breakers are suitable for reverse connection.
Is the HJP36100 HACR rated?
Yes, this breaker is HACR rated, meaning it is approved for use with heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
Is the HJP36100 a current-limiting circuit breaker?
Yes, the HJP36100 is UL Listed and CSA Certified as a current-limiting circuit breaker, providing enhanced protection by reducing the peak current during a short circuit fault.
