Product FAQs
5 answers
What panels are compatible with the Eaton BQ230230 quadplex breaker?
This plug-on breaker is designed for use in Eaton Type BR load centers. It is also UL-listed for use in legacy Cutler-Hammer, Bryant, Westinghouse, and Challenger panels that accept Type BR breakers.
Can the BQ230230 be installed in any Eaton BR load center?
No. This is a CTL (Circuit Total Limitation) breaker equipped with a rejection tab. It can only be installed in CTL-rated load centers that feature notched bus stabs designed to accept tandem and quadplex breakers.
What is the difference between Eaton BQ and BQC quadplex breakers?
Type BQ breakers, like the BQ230230, feature an independent trip mechanism where each pole trips independently, though they include handle ties for a common manual disconnect. Type BQC breakers feature an internal common trip mechanism where the linked poles trip synchronously.
How much panel space does the BQ230230 require?
This quadplex breaker provides two separate 30A, 240V circuits but only requires two standard 1-inch spaces in your load center. This space-saving design is ideal for adding circuits when panel capacity is limited.
Is the BQ230230 a direct replacement for older Cutler-Hammer quadplex breakers?
Yes. Eaton acquired Cutler-Hammer and continues to manufacture these breakers under the Eaton brand. The BQ230230 directly replaces older Cutler-Hammer, Bryant, and Westinghouse quadplex breakers with the exact same catalog number.
