Maintaining power in older industrial facilities requires exact-fit components like this 30-amp, three-pole molded case breaker. The bolt-on configuration installs seamlessly into vintage Federal Pacific NE panelboards, ensuring proper alignment. Facility managers often utilize the UBINE233030 as a modern substitute when replacing these specific N-frame units. With a fixed thermal-magnetic mechanism and a 10kAIC rating at 240VAC, it delivers consistent performance for commercial branch circuits.
Can I install the NE231030 in a standard Federal Pacific Stab-Lok residential load center?
No, the NE231030 is an N-Frame, bolt-on molded case circuit breaker. It is exclusively designed for commercial and industrial Federal Pacific NE Panelboards and will not fit in residential Stab-Lok enclosures.
What is the acceptable wire size range for the terminal lugs on this breaker?
The factory-installed lugs accommodate conductors ranging from 14 AWG up to 2 AWG. Ensure proper torque specifications are followed during installation for secure connections.
How does the thermal-magnetic trip unit function on the NE231030?
The fixed thermal-magnetic mechanism provides dual-level protection (LI). The thermal component offers Long-Time protection against gradual overloads, while the magnetic component provides Instantaneous tripping to quickly clear severe short circuits.
Can the NE231030 be used in DC applications?
Yes, in addition to its 240V AC rating, this breaker is rated for use in 250V DC systems with a 10kA interrupting capacity, making it suitable for specific industrial DC control and distribution circuits.
Are Federal Pacific NE-series breakers subject to the same safety concerns as Stab-Lok breakers?
The widely documented safety hazards and high failure rates associated with Federal Pacific Electric (FPE) primarily involve their residential Stab-Lok line. The NE231030 is a commercial-grade, bolt-on N-Frame molded case circuit breaker, which uses a completely different internal design and mounting mechanism than the Stab-Lok series. However, as with any legacy electrical equipment, it should be tested and installed by a licensed electrician.
