Restoring older commercial electrical systems requires exact-fit components like the NE233020 molded case circuit breaker. This 3-pole, 20-amp unit provides reliable thermal-magnetic protection for demanding industrial and commercial environments. It mounts into Federal Pacific NE panelboards, serving as an exact replacement that requires no mounting adapters. Featuring an 18kAIC rating at 240VAC and HACR certification, this N-frame breaker ensures code-compliant overcurrent safety.
Does the NE233020 require a retrofit kit to fit my panel?
No. This breaker is an exact-fit replacement designed specifically for legacy Federal Pacific NE panelboards. It utilizes a standard bolt-on connection that mounts directly to the panel bus without requiring any mounting adapters or modifications.
Can I install this breaker in a residential Federal Pacific load center?
No. The NE233020 is a commercial N-Frame molded case circuit breaker with a bolt-on mounting style. It is not compatible with residential FPE Stab-Lok load centers, which require plug-on Stab-Lok breakers.
Is the NE233020 a direct replacement for older Federal Pacific installations?
Yes, it serves as a drop-in replacement for aging commercial and industrial Federal Pacific systems. It restores reliable power distribution in NE panelboards without requiring any panel modifications.
Does this breaker include load-side lugs?
Yes, the NE233020 comes equipped with standard load-side lugs. The terminals are designed to accept wire gauges ranging from 14 AWG to 2 AWG.
What type of protection does the NE233020 trip unit provide?
It features a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit that delivers standard LI (Long-Time and Instantaneous) protection. The thermal component responds to sustained overloads, while the magnetic component trips instantaneously during short-circuit events.
Are Federal Pacific NE series breakers affected by the Stab-Lok safety recalls?
The widespread safety concerns and high failure rates associated with Federal Pacific Electric are specific to their residential Stab-Lok breaker line. The NE233020 is a commercial-grade, bolt-on molded case circuit breaker built to a different standard. However, all aging legacy panels should be routinely evaluated by a licensed electrician.
