This bolt-on circuit breaker is designed for installation in GE A-Series and Spectra Series panelboards. It mounts directly to the internal bus structure of these panels.
Is there a modern replacement for the legacy TED124100?
Yes. Since ABB acquired GE Industrial Solutions, legacy E-Frame breakers can often be modernized using the ABB Tmax XT1 platform. Upgrading requires an appropriate retrofit kit designed for your specific panelboard.
What lug kit is used with this breaker?
The standard load lug kit for this E150 frame breaker is the TCAL15. It accepts 3 AWG to 3/0 AWG copper wire or 1 AWG to 3/0 AWG aluminum wire.
How is this breaker applied in direct current systems?
It is rated for DC applications up to 250VDC. When wiring for direct current, you must observe proper polarity and route the positive and negative conductors through the two poles as specified by the manufacturer wiring diagrams.
Can this breaker be reverse fed?
Yes. GE TEB, TED, and THED series breakers are suitable for reverse feed applications. This allows power to be supplied to either the line or load terminals without affecting the protective functions.
How does the trip mechanism operate?
It features a non-interchangeable, fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit. The thermal element protects against prolonged overloads by heating up and tripping the breaker, while the magnetic element provides instantaneous protection against severe short circuits.
Does the breaker provide a visual trip indication?
Yes. When a fault occurs, the handle moves to a center position between ON and OFF. To reset the mechanism, you must move the handle to the extreme OFF position before turning it back ON.
