A reliable choice for industrial facilities, the Square D FH36050 is a 50A molded case circuit breaker with fixed thermal and magnetic trip elements. It provides long-time and instantaneous (LI) protection to prevent equipment damage from overcurrents. Designed for seamless integration, it installs into Square D I-Line panelboards. While part of a legacy F-Frame series, it can be substituted with the BGA36050 for modern upgrades.

Product FAQs

What is the direct replacement for the obsolete FH36050 circuit breaker?
The FH36050 is a legacy F-Frame breaker that has been discontinued [1.1.1]. For a modern equivalent, you can upgrade to a PowerPact B-Frame (such as the BGA36050) or a PowerPact H-Frame (such as the HGA36050). Both options feature the same I-Line plug-on connection for seamless integration into existing systems.
Can the FH36050 be installed in standard Square D QO or Homeline panels?
No. The FH36050 is an I-Line style plug-in breaker designed exclusively for industrial Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards. It will not fit in residential QO, Homeline, or standard NQ/NF bolt-on panelboards.
How does the I-Line connection work on the FH36050?
The I-Line style plug-in design features jaw-like connectors that press directly onto the busbar stack of an I-Line panelboard. This allows for fast, tool-free mounting on the line side, while the load side utilizes standard mechanical lugs for wire termination.
What wire sizes are compatible with the FH36050 load side lugs?
The factory-installed load side lugs are designed to accept a wire range of 14 AWG to 1/0 AWG for copper (Cu) conductors, and 12 AWG to 1/0 AWG for aluminum (Al) conductors.
Can I adjust the trip settings on the FH36050?
No. The FH36050 utilizes a thermal-magnetic trip unit with fixed thermal and fixed magnetic settings. It provides long-time and instantaneous (LI) protection but does not offer field-adjustable amperage dials.
Is the FH36050 suitable for direct current (DC) applications?
Yes. In addition to its standard AC ratings, the FH36050 is rated for use in DC distribution systems up to 250VDC, where it provides a maximum interrupting capacity of 10kAIC.
Does the FH36050 feature a visual trip indicator?
Yes. When a fault occurs, the handle of the FH36050 rests in a central TRIPPED position. This provides a clear visual indication of a tripped state, requiring the operator to push the handle fully to the OFF position before resetting it back to ON.
